Julian is married with two grown up children and four grandchildren. He became Clerk to Wretham Parish Council, and then Whinburgh & Westfield. When he took on Stow Bedon & Breckles Parish Council he thought that three Councils would be more than enough to keep him busy. However, he is now also Clerk to Roudham & Larling.
In 2013 Julian received the Clerk of the Year award from the Norfolk Association of Local Councils and the Norfolk Branch of the Society of Local Council Clerks.
