Our headline is how the EDP described the meeting of Breckland Council's Planning Meeting last Monday, when the members refused all seven retrospective applications by Traditional Norfolk Poultry (TNP) to retain the poultry farm they had constructed at Breckles Heath without obtaining permission.

It was some 20 months ago now that construction started, and although TNP were told by Breckland that planning permission was required, they chose to ignore this. Even when served with an Enforcement Order (an action Breckland does not take lightly) TNP continued, and only submitted applications when their appeal was rejected by the Planning Inspector.

At the Breckland Planning Meeting, Marion Chapman-Allen, district Councillor for Harling and Heathlands, described TNP's actions as "totally unacceptable".

The Committee heard from Bob Morpeth, Vice-Chairman of Wretham Parish Council (which, together with Thompson, Hockham and Stow Bedon & Breckles Parish Councils, had vigorously opposed the development from the start), as he described the damage done to the ancient Peddars Way by this development. "The Peddars Way used to be a national treasure, "he said, "but its not any more."

Having refused planning permission, the Committee also agreed to continue with a full enforcement notice on the company.
