SKIDBY PARISH COUNCIL NOTICE

EAST RIDING YORKSHIRE COUNCIL (ERYC) HAVE CONTACTED SKIDBY PARISH COUNCIL TO CLARIFY THE SITUATION WITH REGARD TO THE SKIDBY FLOOD ALLEVIATION SCHEME.  THIS IS THE INFORMATION ERYC HAVE FORWARDED TO THE PARISH COUNCIL.

“ERYC HAVE INDICATIVELY SECURED AN ADDITIONAL £200,000 OF NATIONAL FLOOD DEFENCE FUNDING DUE TO A SPECULATIVE FUNDING BID PUT IN SOME TIME AGO.  THEY HOPE TO USE THE ADDITIONAL FUNDING AS BETTERMENT TO THE EXISTING PROPOSALS; UNFORTUNATELY THE MAJORITY OF THE £200,000 IS NOT AVAILABLE UNTIL 2016/2017.  THIS WAS CONFIRMED AS PART OF THE NATIONAL SPENDING ROUND ANNOUNCED BY THE CHANCELLOR ON DECEMBER 3 AND IS OUT OF THE CONTROL OF ERYC.

THE ADDITIONAL FUNDING IS EXTERNAL FUNDING AND SUBJECT TO SOME RATHER COMPLEX RULES AND IN ORDER TO SATISFY THE FUNDERS REQUIREMENTS ERYC HAVE ASKED A PROJECT TEAM TO UNDERTAKE ADDITIONAL FEASIBILITY WORKS.  ONCE THESE WORKS ARE COMPLETE ERYC SHALL TAKE A VIEW AS TO WHETHER AN ENHANCED SCHEME IS AFFORDABLE WITHIN THE INDICATIVE BUDGETS, INDEED ERYC MAY TAKE THE VIEW THAT A SMALL SCHEME IS PREFERABLE, HOWEVER IT WOULD BE REMISS OF THE ERYC NOT TAKE THE OPPORTUNITY TO TRY AND ATTAIN THE BEST SCHEME FOR THE VILLAGE.”

ANY VIEWS SHOULD BE DIRECTED TO ANDREW MCLACHLAN THE FLOOD RISK STRATEGY MANAGER AT ERYC ON 01482 391704
