Jerome Walsh

Sergeant, The Northamptonshire Regiment

(1876 - 1918)

Born in Cork, Ireland , in about 1876, Jerome was a Grocer's Assistant in Cork in 1901, and a Grocer in Bristol, England by 1911.

He must have moved to Wadenhoe, Northamptonshire for some reason, because at the outbreak of WW1 he was in Oundle enlisting in the 6th Btn Northamptonshire Regiment.

On the 5th April 1918 he died in action on the Somme aged 42.

He is on the Irish National Roll of Honour linking him to Oundle and The Northamptonshire Regiment.

He was awarded the British War Medal and the Victory Medal.

He is remembered on the Pozieres Memorial, Somme, Picardy, France.

He is also remembered on Wadenhoe's War Memorials.
