UPDATE AND VOLUNTEER APPEAL: STATEMENT FROM YMCA NORTHUMBERLAND
"Following a lot of speculation on social media of late regarding the future of the Lynemouth Community Allotment, we would like to update and reassure everybody on the continued use of the site for the Lynemouth community.
"Firstly, many people will be aware that the role of YMCA Northumberland’s community allotment worker has come to an end this month. This has been due to funding restrictions for this role, which was intended to deliver a number of weekly allotment sessions specifically to young people from the local area. These were going to be delivered throughout 2020 and 2021. Obviously the pandemic and the restrictions this brought with it, had a huge impact on these sessions and they weren’t able to work as intended. We thank Michael for his role in creating the community allotment and wish him all the very best.
"As agreed at the beginning with the community allotment project, we are still looking to set up a community group, made up of Lynemouth residents who will take the project forward and help maintain the site for the wider community to benefit from for years to come.

"Where funding allows Groundwork are also wishing to continue working with residents on the site, and we will make sure any information about these sessions will be shared across social media going forward".
