Cold Ashby Playing Field Association

Many of you, especially those new to the village, may not know much about CAPFA, the Cold Ashby Playing Fields Association (Registered Charity Number : 282455). We are local volunteers who maintain facilities and run events for the benefit of Cold Ashby residents, and the wider community. You may already have benefited from some of the things we provide, including:

Children’s Play Area. Swings, slides and other features to give Mums and Dads somewhere where their kids can play and let off steam.

Cold Ashby Bonfire Night.  An annual family-friendly event with professional quality fireworks, hot food and drinks and a bar. An Autumn highlight for CA and the surrounding villages.

Monthly film nights. Recent cinema film releases with wine, cheese and an opportunity to socialise and chat.

Summer social evenings. With the lovely playing fields and big skies as a backdrop, we open the pavilion and bar in the summer for people to get together and sit outdoors on warm summer evenings, or pop indoors for a game of pool.

Tennis. In the summer villagers can play tennis on the multi-play area (MUGA) for a nominal annual family fee.

Cricket. In the absence of a local team, we host a very successful club from Northampton.  Come down during the season and watch excellent club cricket.

Pool. The Pavilion hosts the village Pool team.  We play in a league, and everybody is welcome to come and support home games.  The bar is open! We also have practice nights where all can play.

Facilities for hire. We maintain facilities that can be hired by anybody, with preferential rates for Cold Ashby residents:

  • The playing fields and MUGA for football, hockey etc in the Winter.
  • The pavilion and bar for private parties for adults and children alike.

We have a committee meeting at the pavilion on the second Tuesday of each month.  Please get involved, come along to find out what’s going on, have your say and, if you like what you hear, join our band of volunteers.  We need your support and are always ready to welcome new volunteers.
