Cold Ashby Parish Council have received notification of a planning application at "Land To South West Of A14 Junction At Cold Ashby, Northampton Road, Cold Ashby, Northamptonshire". The application (WND/2023/0148) can be viewed on the West Northants Planning Portal

"No Mow May" - an invitation from West Northants Council:

I am emailing to invite you all to participate in No Mow May this year. This is an initiative where we encourage you to leave your lawnmower and let your lawn grow out without maintenance. This encourages smaller plants to grow and flower which increases biodiversity. For more information - Frequently Asked Questions - No Mow May (plantlife.org.uk)

We would be asking parish councils to participate in this by spreading the word to its residents and also leaving parish owned land unmown throughout May or for even longer. For resources - No Mow May (plantlife.org.uk)

We have already spoken to our contractors who will be implementing this across a number of parks in West Northants such as Abington Park and Daventry Country Park.

Cold Ashby Precept 2023-2024

Every year the Parish Council draws up budgets and calculates how much money it needs for the next financial year.

As a council we are aware that the services we provide for residents should be continued and are prudent on how we spend your money. The precept is the sum of money given to us to keep services running.

The financial position of the Council is sound and every care is taken when spending public funds. Our aim is to balance the budget and keep our element of your Council Tax to a minimum.

For the first time in many years Cold Ashby Parish Council has increased the precept due to rising costs, during the time Cold Ashby have held the precept the average precept in Northamptonshire has increased by over 40%. We are acutely aware that times are difficult and recognise our residents are facing challenges. We are reluctantly increasing the precept after exploring how we could stretch the current precept.

Below are some of the areas we spend the money we receive on:

  • Street Lighting
  • Cemetery upkeep
  • General maintenance in the village
  • Grass cutting and hedge maintenance
  • Defibrillator
  • Grants (e.g public events)

Please note that the audit documents for 2021-22 are now available in the library section under audit transparency. All documents can be inspected from 1.6.22 to 15.7.22 by contacting the clerk on 07855460306
