St Rumbald Church

Stoke Doyle

Churchyard Open Afternoon

Sunday 6th August 2 -5pm

Tea and Cake!

The Churchyard, like all our gardens is rather brown and dry, but some welcome rain has freshened it up.  The yellow rattle is starting to go to seed and is definitely rattling, but scabious, knapweed , fleabane and spiny restharrow are attracting butterflies like gatekeepers and skippers.

The barn owls are nesting and the small bird boxes definitely have noisy occupants.

Our Open Afternoon is on Sunday 6th August  when there will be bug hunts, quizzes and guided trails as well as the added attraction of tea and cake; Lisa Rowley will be there to identify bugs that we find.

If you can’t make it you are welcome to look round at any time -the church is open in the daytime. Help yourself to guides and maps and do record what you see in the book in the church.

It is the Big Butterfly Count this month -.  Id charts and record forms in the church.
