Our Open Afternoon is on Sunday 4th August when there will be bug hunts, quizzes and guided trails - Lisa Rowley from the Wildlife Trust will be there to identify bugs that we find. And of course the main attraction is the tea and cake!
This has been a strange year for our gardens and for the churchyard as well. Hopefully summer has arrived and we will be seeing more butterflies around. The one pyramidal orchid will probably have gone over in two weeks’ time and the yellow rattle is starting to go to seed – it is definitely rattling, but scabious, knapweed , fleabane and spiny restharrow are attracting butterflies like gatekeepers and skippers.
If you can’t make it you are welcome to look round at any time -the church is open in the daytime. Help yourself to guides and maps and do record what you see in the book in the church. It is the Big Butterfly Count this month -. Id charts and record forms in the church.
Fingers crossed for a sunny day! Look forward to seeing you.
