Spanglefish Gold Status Expired 30/07/2019.

If you didn't make the Christmas Lights switch-on, you can still have a look at some of the photographs, taken by Moira Wooldridge (Community Photographer).

The event was held on the Glade and included music and entertainment from Mr Discoman (John Robson), Christmas songs from the very talented children at Mickley First School and Prudhoe Castle First School and carols from the wonderful Mary Magdalene Church Choir.

Complimentary drinks and mince pies were served by Ian and Caroline Warburton (Dragon Tale Theatre Group), that were kindly donated by the Co-op, and biscuits donated by Creative Management (school lunch provider at PCHS).

The children were delighted to see Santa Clause (Mid Tyne Lions) who seemed to have an endless supply of sweets as well as Prudhoe Parents Group, who brought some Christmas crafts and lots of glitter!

This year the lights will be switched-on by Prudhoe’s very own Wendy Neal (Dragon Tale Theatre Group), who was recently made famous when she was given the honour of carrying the Olympic Torch through Front Street.  Wendy spoke passionately and heartwarmingly about the Town she loves, and thanked Prudhoe Town Council for giving her the honour of switching on the lights.

The Town Council would like to thank everyone mentioned above who made the night very special, as well as The Original Factory Shop and the One-Stop-Shop for the donation of sweets.

The Town Council has invested over £19,000 on Christmas lighting displays this year, and hope they have brought some magic and sparkle to Front Street, adding to the appeal of the Town to locals and visitors alike.

The following improvements were made for 2012:

 2 Garlands at the gable ends of Franco’s Restaurant and Frank’s Carpets
 Festoon Lights between Frank’s Carpets and the Windsor Bakery
 ‘Merry Christmas from Prudhoe’ at South entrance to ‘The Glade’ (to be read from roadside)
 New ‘real’ Christmas tree for the Glade (donated by SCA Hygiene Ltd) and re-siting of the artificial tree at the Parish Hall
 100m of festoon lights attached to hanging baskets at the West of Front Street
 All bulbs replaced with LED B22 bulbs to prevent them ‘blowing out’

PLEASE HAVE A LOOK AT THE PHOTOGRAPHS FROM THE NIGHT!
